Freshman Dorm T-shirt

Recently, my school hosted an event called Freshman Convocation and every single freshman that lived in the dorms was required to go. Even though that in itself was pretty lame, that wasn't even the worst part. The bad part about it was that we were all required to wear matching t-shirts! Every buildings' students were forced to wear different colors of the same t-shirt, depending on which building you were in. So my roommates and I decided, why not make our t-shirts stand out? So I got to cutting...
I started out by drawing a line halfway across the shirt exactly where I wanted to cut it. As you can see, I've already cut the neckline off.

From here, I've simply cut off the sleeves following the hemline and cropped the shirt to where it is high in the front and lower in the back. Then, I took a couple of pieces of scrap...

With those two pieces of scrap, I tied a bow at the shoulders of the shirt to give it more of a feminine look.

Then, I did a technic called shredding. Shredding is basically when you pull out the individual threading of fabric using your fingers or, in my case, tweezers. If you'd like to learn how to shred, check out this video here.

This was the finished product!

  1. This is a cute DIY! It's way different from what I've seen on Pinterest...definitely have to try with one of my old tshirts. <3
